Adam is the Clinical Director and Lead Osteopath at Lace Market Clinic. With over 15,000 hours consulting experience he specialises in the treatment of complex neuro and musculoskeletal presentations and injuries. He has a specific clinical interest in chronic pain and the dysfunction of the low back, pelvis and hip.
Adam believes in engaging with the client to get to the root cause of the problem. His journey in musculoskeletal health began when he was 8 years old and his mother suffered a spinal injury which confined her permanently to a wheelchair.
34 years helping his mother and over 15,000 hours treating his own patients has taught Adam many lessons. The most important of which is to take the time to understand each patient’s presentation because everyone is different.
Adam has a special clinical interest in the biomechanics of the low back, pelvis and lower limb. He regularly sees clients with severe pain or dysfunction which can affect their activities of daily living. Many of Adam’s patients have even been as far as having x-rays or MRI scans but have been told they are not a suitable candidates for surgery.
Adam is committed to maintaining the standards required to work at the forefront of evidence based manual medicine whilst retaining the empathy and client care for which osteopathy is well recognised. Over the years Adam has trained with many health professionals including medical doctors and surgeons as well as many other osteopaths, physiotherapists and chiropractors. These experiences have enabled him to develop a unique evidence-based style with what he describes as a structural, holistic approach to treatment.
Adam will examine the whole body for muscle imbalance, joint restrictions and dysfunctions as well as investigating any beliefs or behaviours which may be predisposing or maintaining a patient’s pain or symptoms. He uses a range of gentle and or more robust techniques to get to the root cause of the problem whilst also taking the time to coach and empower the person for the best possible long term result.
Adam believes he is truly lucky to have a job which offers such variety in challenge and where he can make a positive difference in people’s lives.

A Satisfied Client – Erik’s Story.
“After 6 months of debilitating sciatica, which a Physiotherapist, a Chiropractor and 5 different prescription painkillers and anti-inflammatories had no impact on, I finally found Adam. It took nearly 6 more months to get me back to normal, but I don’t want that to sound like a complaint. All along the way Adam listened, tested, re-tested and adjusted my treatment routine until together we found what worked. I felt like a key part of the process, and it turns out that my body just needed a few months to be re-trained and strengthened. I went from being unable to sleep more than 3 hours each night, and not being able to even straighten my left leg, to running 25km a week. I have a running joke with Adam that I hope to never see him again, but if I have any biomechanical issues of any sort again, his will be the first number I call. If you’re in pain, see him.”
